The sleeping weather was perfect and I slept so soundly. The next morning we took more photographs of the mission in the morning light and took some hikes. The bird life was really diverse in the garden. The hooded orioles were spectacular. I should have gotten out my big lens and got some photos. Next time I guess.

This little chihuahua was cool, but bit the crap out of me when I tried to grab him! I asked for it I guess.

The family takes turns forming bricks with hammers and chisels from rock mined in the area.

We left a little before lunch and went to the rock art site on the way to Bahia de Los Angeles. I have been to this site a few times, but it is worth a visit every time. It’s a great spot. The weather was really warm! We had some lunch then made our way into town.

We stopped to top off our gas tanks in town and found out that the town had been without electricity for the last three days and we just happened to have driven into the Pemex right when the power came back on. Good timing! We stopped at one of the grocery stores in town and I ran into Pattie and her two kids. They live at Campo Archelon and I had met them along with Pattie’s husband Maurro back in March of 2005. I told her that I would stop by later if Archelon had vacancy. Turned out that we didn't get to see them unfortunately.
We stopped at checked out the museum in town and bought some gifts. This is a really nice little museum, anyone going to Bahia de Los Angeles should check it out.

We picked up some fresh fish in the store, then went to look for a camp. Campo Archelon looks great, with many improvements since I was there last in 2005. Unfortunately, they were all booked up with a large college group coming in that evening from California. We went to the next camp down, Daggets. It was a little busy, but we were tired and didn’t feel like looking around more. Plus we could get some hot showers. Brian went to work fixing his shock and with my cordless drill he came up with a fix that worked well.
The evening was really nice and Brian and Marisa went out for some kayaking while I stayed in camp chatting with the neighbors next to us. I cooked up some phenomenal fish tacos for dinner and after dinner the wind started coming up. It was a sign to come because the wind howled all night long! I was sleeping on my cot under the palapa and I woke up several times thinking the palapa was blowing away!! The storm we ran away from on the Pacific had now arrived.
