Day 3

We didn't sleep well due to the large number of Americans staying at Camp Gecko. They were loud an obnoxious until the wee hours. One gringo thought my cabin was empty and tried to come on in at mignight. I scared him pretty good when I jumped out of my sleeping bag! Why are most Americans such assholes? I dunno... Abraham that runs the place is cool as hell though, so I may come back someday just for that reason.

I got some snorkeling in first thing that morning.

The water was not too cold, but I was glad I brought a shorty wetsuit with me. I saw dozens of rays, almost put my hand on one by accident, that might have hurt had I got stung! Saw some cool fish too and lots of sand dollars. Never seen them alive before.

We then left Bay of LA on our way to San Ignacio Lagoon. At the crossing to Baja Sur near Guerro Negro, they inspected the truck for fruit and meat. They didn't allow fruits or meat to enter Baja Sur. Not sure why. They only found our oranges and apples, they didn't find my steaks and chicken! They also did check the tourist card. I'm glad I followed the rules and bought one in Mexicali.

It was quite a drive and we arrived around 5:30 at Antonios's Fish Camp. I've had friends use Antonio's before for whale watching and he was highly recommended. The weather turned really windy as we got to the lagoon and it rained a bit here and there. We opted to rent a small cubana from Antonio for 30 bucks. It worked out great! We sat in Antonio's main office/kitchen and talked and drank beers. He's been running his fish camp for 23 years he told me. He was pretty cool. His son spoke English pretty well and hung out with us too.

On to Day 4
